Overview
The launch of the Creating Value for All report was organized on July 10, 2008, jointly by UNDP and the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance and Economic Development, Hon. Rama Sithanen, in presence of a hundred of national representatives from poverty alleviation NGOs, major private companies, public bodies engaged in the fight against poverty and government officials.
The launch was coupled with a forum/debate on the theme of “Inclusive Growth in Mauritius” with guest speakers from civil society, government and private sector. The aim was to get all participants immediately engaged in a reflection on how to capitalize on the Report’s findings and tools for the Mauritian context.
As an immediate result, the Deputy Prime Minister proposed the setting up of a special committee between government, private sector and NGOs, to see how the private sector could be more involved in the fight against poverty and encouraged to do business with the poor.
