Press Coverage
- Radikal, “According to UN the Means for Development is Becoming Partners with the Poor” (in Turkish)
UNDP is giving strong efforts to combat poverty. UNDP’s recently published report “Creating Value for All: Strategies for Doing Business with the Poor” states that the poor have large potentials as consumers, producers and entrepreneurs and calls for governments and the private sector to do business with the poor. UNDP Turkey Resident Representative Mahmood Ayub answered Radikal’s questions regarding the report.
- Birgun, “Poverty that has been Discovered” (in Turkish)
You can take the period after 2001 as a period where capitalism rediscovered the poor. The “Creating Value for All: Strategies for Doing Business with the Poor” report recently published by UNDP has been influenced by the well-known Indian professor C. K. Prahalad of the Michigan University who instead of seeing the poor as a section of the society, sees them as consumers. The report reminds that the poor have great potentials as consumers, producers, entrepreneurs and calls on governments and the private sector to do business with them.
