The New America Foundation is a nonprofit, nonpartisan public policy institute that invests in new thinkers and new ideas to address the next generation of challenges facing the United States. The GIM Initiative will leverage its business model analysis to produce research on expanding financial inclusion, particularly through social protection cash transfers. A white paper with the New America Foundation on Savings-Led Conditional Cash Transfers will be published in 2010. In addition, a high level colloquium will be convened with leaders in the field, in late 2010.
Oikos is the international student organisation for sustainable economics and management and a leading reference point for the promotion of sustainability change agents. GIM is partnering with oikos in the convening of an annual oikos-UNDP Young Scholars Development Academy. Two Academies have been organized so far in 2009 (Switzerland) and 2010 (Costa Rica), gathering 15 selected international PhD students and scholars working in the field of business and poverty with three distinguished senior faculty members.
UNEP DTIE encourages decision makers in government, local authorities and industry to develop and implement policies, strategies and practices that are cleaner and safer, make efficient use of natural resources, ensure environmentally sound management of chemicals, reduce pollution and risks for humans and the environment, enable implementation of conventions and international agreements, and incorporate environmental costs. GIM and the Sustainable Consumption and Production Branch are preparing joint research work on innovative green and renewable energy technologies companies that reach the poor and development of toolkit for sustainable entrepreneurs.
