Samer Abdelnour is a founding member of the Foundation for Enterprise and Development and a PhD Candidate at the Richard Ivey School of Business (Canada). His area of research includes entrepreneurship and development with a focus in conflict zones and post-war development. Since 2005, he has been engaged in extensive field research in Sudan (Darfur, Southern Sudan, and Blue Nile) where he has led a number of projects exploring the relationship between enterprise and development.
Brahim Allali is a Professor at HEC Montreal where he teaches Entrepreneurship and Small Business Management as well as International Strategic Management. Dr. Allali holds an Msc in International Business, another one in Banking from ITB-CNAM (France), and a PhD degree in Business Administration from HEC Montreal affiliated with the University of Montreal. Before dedicating himself to teaching, research, and consulting, Doctor Allali had spent many years working in industry and banking. He is also a Consultant with many international organizations such as the WTO, the World Bank, International Trade Centre, and Islamic Centre for Development of Trade. Doctor Allali has published two books: “Audit-export” and “Vision des dirigeants et internationalisation des PME”, as well as many scientific and professional papers. He has also given many presentations on Entrepreneurship, Small Business Management, Corporate entrepreneurship, and International Development.
Wafa Elgarah is an Assistant Professor at Al Akhawayn University in Ifrane, Morocco and Academic Coordinator of the Post-experience Graduate Programs. She holds a PhD in Management Information Systems from University of Central Florida, USA and an MBA in Marketing and Management from University of North Texas, USA. Her research has appeared in outlets such as Data Base for Advances in Information Systems, Communications of the AIS as well as numerous international research conference proceedings. Prior to joining academia, Dr. Elgarah worked in several companies where she played key roles in IT based projects and new products and services marketing initiatives. Her research interests include Decision Support Systems, E-government and Design theories.
Dr. Tarek Hatem, professor of Management at the American University in Cairo, has around 20 years of experience in that field in Egypt. Dr. Hatem earned his PhD in Strategic Management from the University of Colorado in the U.S. in 1986. Earlier, in 1981, he obtained his masters degree in Public Administration from the same university. He is a Certified Management Consultant from the Institute of Management Consultancy in the UK, and is the chairman of the Management Consultants Association in Egypt. Principle management courses taught by Hatem at AUC are: Strategic Management, International Business, Introduction to Public Administration and public policy, and small business entrepreneurship. Hatem was awarded the Teachers’ Merit Award in 1997-1998 and two of the theses that he supervised were granted Wisner Award in 1998 and 2001. In 2006, Hatem was awarded the Microfinance Management Institute (MFMI) Fellowship. Hatem is a specialist in the field of management, with particular reference to strategic management, international and public administration, public policy in Egypt, and entrepreneurship. He has authored and contributed to several books, including Human Resources Management in Egypt (2006). Hatem has published numerous scholarly articles in international and local journals, focusing on business management, public administration, and entrepreneurship. Dr Hatem has many years of consultancy and training experience in the areas of strategic management, business plan, and international business. Hatem was involved in several consultation assignments for the government of Egypt and UAE including development of strategic plans and restructuring of ministries and government organization. He is also a board member in different industries including construction, cement, financial sector, and agriculture
Pascale Nader is a market research consultant with Synovate Egypt, specialized in consumer knowledge management in emerging markets, across the Middle East and North Africa. She consults with a network of local and international organizations to influence their business strategy and processes. As Director of qualitative research (2006-2008), she led a regional business unit that excelled in translating consumer insight into viable and competitive strategies for product, communication and systems development. Since 2008, Pascale is also a freelance business writer in Egypt, contributing articles on trends such as SME development and microfinance. She holds a BA in Economics from the American University in Cairo.
Samir Youssef is currently Professor of International Business and Organization at the American University in Cairo. He teaches in the fields of international business, organization, and business ethics. His publications cover the areas of IT outsourcing, cross-cultural relationships, business strategies, business-government relationships, and business social responsibility. His preferred research approach is using cases from the Egyptian environment.
