oikos-UNDP Young Scholars Development Academies

Description

Oikos is the international student organisation for sustainable economics and management and a leading reference point for the promotion of sustainability change agents. The GIM Initiative is partnering with oikos in the convening of an annual oikos-UNDP Young Scholars Development Academy.

Two Academies have been organized so far in 2009 (Switzerland) and 2010 (Costa Rica), with a third one planned in 2011 (India). Each Academy gathers 15 selected international PhD students and scholars from developed and developing countries working in the field of business and poverty with three distinguished senior faculty members.

The objective of these Academies is to attract papers fostering new ideas and solutions on business contribution to sustainable development and provide PhD students and young scholars working on poverty and sustainable development from a management or economics perspective a platform to present and discuss their ongoing research projects with fellow students and senior faculty.

“A very well thought-out mix of faculty and practitioners in a really challenging area – dealing with the many, many competing perspectives about what BoP really means.”
