GIM Launches First National Report (Colombia)

On October 26, 2010, in Bogota, Colombia, UNDP Colombia, the Presidential Agency for Social Action and International Cooperation (Acción Social) and Colombia Líder have officially launched the national GIM Report “Crecimiento de Mercados Inclusivos: Estrategias empresariales para la superación de la pobreza y la exclusión en Colombia”. The Report features 13 case studies of Colombian business leaders that have found solutions to socio-economic problems such as inequity, poverty and exclusion, while pursuing economic benefits.

The launch event gathered over 250 participants from the private and public sectors as well as academia and civil society. Keynote speakers included: Bruno Moro, UN Resident Representative; Henry Jackelen, Director of UNDP’s Private Sector Division; Samuel Azout, Senior Advisor for Social Prosperity; Diego Molano, Senior Presidential Advisor for Social Action and International Cooperation; Luis Carlos Villegas, President of the National Association of Colombian Business Leaders (ANDI); and Hernando José Gómez, Director of the National Planning Department (DNP).

Launch of First GIM National Report in Colombia

UNDP Colombia, the Presidential Agency for Social Action and International Cooperation (Acción Social) and Colombia Líder are organizing the launch of the national GIM Report “Crecimiento de Mercados Inclusivos: Estrategias empresariales para la superación de la pobreza y la exclusión en Colombia”. The Report features 13 case studies of Colombian business leaders that have found solutions to socio-economic problems such as inequity, poverty and exclusion, while pursuing economic benefits. The launch event will take place on October 26, 2010, at 10:30am in Salón Monserrate of the Tequendama Hotel in Bogotá, Colombia.

Keynote speakers will include: Bruno Moro, UN Resident Representative; Samuel Azout, Senior Advisor for Social Prosperity; Diego Molano, Senior Presidential Advisor for Social Action and International Cooperation; Luis Carlos Villegas, President of the National Association of Colombian Business Leaders (ANDI); Hernando José Gómez, Director of the National Planning Department (DNP); and Henry Jackelen, Director of UNDP’s Private Sector Division.

El Programa de las Naciones Unidas para el Desarrollo (PNUD) Oficina de Colombia, la Agencia Presidencial para la Acción Social y la Cooperación Internacional, y Colombia Líder realizarán el lanzamiento del Informe “Crecimiento de Mercados Inclusivos: Estrategias empresariales para la superación de la pobreza y la exclusión en Colombia”. Allí se presentan 13 casos de empresarios colombianos que han aportado soluciones a problemas socio-económicos como la inequidad, la pobreza y la exclusión en el país, al mismo tiempo que fortalecen su gestión empresarial. El evento se realizará el próximo 26 de octubre, a las 10:30 a.m. en el Salón Monserrate del Hotel Tequendama – Bogotá, Colombia.

Se contará con la participación de Bruno Moro, coordinador Residente y Humanitario del Sistema de Naciones Unidas y representante del PNUD en Colombia; Samuel Azout, alto consejero para la Prosperidad Social; Diego Molano, alto consejero Presidencial para la Acción Social y la Cooperación Internacional; Luis Carlos Villegas, presidente de la Asociación Nacional de Empresarios de Colombia, ANDI; Hernando José Gómez, director Departamento Nacional de Planeación (DNP), y Henry Jackelen, director de la División del Sector Privado del PNUD New York.

Launch of the Creating Value for All Report in Colombia

The launch of the Creating Value for All report was organized in Bogota, Colombia, on June 25, 2009, in the framework of Colombia Responsable, a large forum on social responsibility and development. The forum gathered public entities, private companies, development agencies, universities and regional entities engaged in corporate social responsibility issues, and received about 80,000 visitors over three days.

Keynote speakers at the GIM launch included: Bárbara Pesce-Monteiro, UNDP Country Director; Luis Alfonso Hoyos, Senior Presidential Advisor for Social Action; Luis Carlos Villegas, President of the National Association of Colombian Entrepreneurs; Eduardo Aninat, former Minister of Finance of Chile and co-chair of the GIM Advisory Board;Santiago Madriñán, Executive Director of the Colombian Business Council for Sustainable Development; Christian Marlin, Regional Director of the CECODES-SNV Inclusive Business Alliance; and Esteban Piedrahita, Director of the National Planning Department.
