Farid Baddache - France

Farid Baddache is European Director of Business for Social Responsibility - BSR. He is an expert on Corporate Social Responsibility issues. He is an associate university professor at the University of Versailles-Saint-Quentin and a lecturer at ESSEC Business School (Paris), where he works on researches with IRENE – Institute for Research and Education on Negotiation in Europe - enabling to use negotiation tools and methods to build high value creative sustainable solutions encompassing stakeholders in projects with added positive impacts for people, profits and the planet. Farid has also worked extensively with corporations, unions and NGOs, and on projects supported by public institutions in Europe, Latin America, Pacific Asia and the US. He is an author on sustainability, with several articles and four books to his credit.

Claudio Boechat - Brazil

Cláudio Boechat is a teacher, researcher and project manager at Sustainability and Corporate Responsibility Nucleus, Fundação Dom Cabral (FDC), Brazil, since 2002. His current professional activities include knowledge development in the field of responsible and sustainable business management. Cláudio also gives frequent speeches and classes in Brazil and in the exterior, and represents the FDC in many national and international fora. He is the Brazilian representative in the Globally Responsible Leaders Initiative, sponsored by UN Global Compact and European Foundation for Management Development; and in the UN Global Compact Task Force for Principles for Responsible Management Education. Cláudio holds a degree in Electrical Engineering from the Federal University of Minas Gerais, Brazil, and is Specialist in Economic Engineering at the Fundação Dom Cabral.

Juana de Catheu - France

Juana de Catheu is Administrator in the Governance and Conflict Prevention Unit, Policy Co-ordination Division of the OECD Development Cooperation Directorate, and Lecturer at Institut d'Études Politiques de Paris. Previously, she was Conflict Specialist at the World Bank, Social Development Department and Burundi-Rwanda-RD Congo-Congo country team (2001-2004). Both under USAID technical assistance, she was then Senior Technical Advisor to the Head of the government of DR Congo Demobilization and Reintegration agency (2004-2005) and Advisor to a multi-stakeholder forum to implement the Helsinki peace agreement in Aceh, Indonesia (2006). Publications include articles on donor engagement in fragile states, including "Conflict-Sensitive Development: The case of Burundi" with Ambassador Howard Wolpe (World Bank, Washington DC, 2005) and in États et Sociétés Fragiles (Karthala, Paris, 2007). She holds an MA from Institut d'Études Politiques de Paris and a MSc. from Georgetown University.

Pedro Franco - Peru

Pedro Franco is Dean of the School of Business Administration and Accounting, Universidad del Pacifico, Peru. Previously, Pedro worked as a consultant for Chemonics International in Colombia, the Peruvian Ministry of National Security, the Asian Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) and the International Finance Corporation. Pedro is the author of various publications, the latest one being the Guidebook for Social Responsibility Diagnostic. Pedro holds a Master in Business Administration from the American University, Washington DC, as well as a Master in Environmental Management for the Sustainable Development from the Pontificia University Javeriana, Bogotá, Colombia.

Elvie Grace or Bing Ganchero - Philippines

Bing Ganchero for the last three years has been working as a freelance CSR consultant based in West Africa after working for over 16 years in the field of CSR and sustainable development in the Philippines.Previously, she was the Manager of the Center for Corporate Citizenship, Philippine Business for Social Progress (PBSP). In this capacity, she provided direction and leadership in developing CSR policy and promoting leading edge practices, particularly in the areas of corporate-community partnership, stakeholder engagement, environmental management, health and safety in the workplace, benchmarking and business in conflict zones. Before leaving PBSP, her last major accomplishment was to work directly with leading CEOs in the Philippines to draft a strategy to coordinate private sector activities to help the Philippines attain the MDGs.

As and independent CSR consultant, Bing has worked with international organizations such as IFC, USAID, and private companies in Asia and Latin America. In 2005 she authored an UN-funded publication entitled Responding to the Millennium Development Challenge: A Roadmap for Philippine Business. She has written case studies, published articles and performed extensive research on different CSR issues. Bing was one of the founding members of the Asia-Pacific CSR Network, served as a member of the organizing committee for the Asian CSR Forum, and participated as assessor of the first Alcan Prize for Sustainability Awards in 2004. She participates in numerous working groups related to CSR initiatives such as the ENGAGE program of the International Business Leaders Forum, the Asian CSR Awards Committee, and coordinated the MDG and the Business Core Group for the Philippines.

Mamadou Gaye - Senegal

Mamadou Gaye is currently Director of the Doctoral School at the African Institute of Management (AIM) in Dakar, Senegal, and Director of the Entrepreneurship Program. In 2007, he became a member of the Academy of Management of the US. He is in charge of international relations at AIM. After participating in international meetings and initiatives funded by UNDP, GBSN, AABS, ICF, ICBE and Trust Africa, he his convinced of the importance and need of African private sectors, business schools and universities to enhance case method approaches. He has written six case studies in Francophone West Africa for the UNDP in 2006-2007. Mamadou undertook its graduate studies in resource economics in Moscow, Russia, with a specialization in project management (MSc). Awarded a scholarship from the Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA), he finished a master degree in organization management at the University of Quebec, Rimouski. Mamadou speaks French, Wolof, English, Spanish and Russian fluently. Currently he is interested in authoring cases and developing research in social entrepreneurship.

Dr. Tarek Hatem - Egypt

Dr. Tarek Hatem, professor of Management at the American University in Cairo, has around 20 years of experience in that field in Egypt. Dr. Hatem earned his PhD in Strategic Management from the University of Colorado in the U.S. in 1986. Earlier, in 1981, he obtained his masters degree in Public Administration from the same university. He is a Certified Management Consultant from the Institute of Management Consultancy in the UK, and is the chairman of the Management Consultants Association in Egypt.

Principle management courses taught by Hatem at AUC are: Strategic Management, International Business, Introduction to Public Administration and public policy, and small business entrepreneurship. Hatem was awarded the Teachers’ Merit Award in 1997-1998 and two of the theses that he supervised were granted Wisner Award in 1998 and 2001. In 2006, Hatem was awarded the Microfinance Management Institute (MFMI) Fellowship. Hatem is a specialist in the field of management, with particular reference to strategic management, international and public administration, public policy in Egypt, and entrepreneurship.

He has authored and contributed to several books, including Human Resources Management in Egypt (2006). Hatem has published numerous scholarly articles in international and local journals, focusing on business management, public administration, and entrepreneurship. Dr Hatem has many years of consultancy and training experience in the areas of strategic management, business plan, and international business. Hatem was involved in several consultation assignments for the government of Egypt and UAE including development of strategic plans and restructuring of ministries and government organization. He is also a board member in different industries including construction, cement, financial sector, and agriculture.

Winifred Karugu - Kenya

Winifred N. Karugu is currently Director of the School for Human Resources Development (IHRD), in Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture & Technology (JKUAT), Kenya. She holds a BSc and a MSc from Oklahoma State and is a PhD candidate at JKUAT. Winifred is lecturer in Principles of Marketing, Consumer Behavior and Micro-Economics. Her current research interests include gender and technology, pro-poor initiatives, and SME growth strategies. Winifred is member of the International Association of Agricultural Economists (IAAE), the African Association of Agricultural Economists (AAAE) and the African Technology Policy Studies (ATPS) and the Academy of Management (AoM).

Dr. Prabakar Kothandaraman - India

Dr. Kothandaraman, a Ph.D in business from Penn. State has taught at Drexel and Texas A&M Universities in the United States and, currently, is engaged in writing business cases on Indian companies in collaboration with Harvard Business School. His research interests include creation and appropriation of value and applied social network analysis. He has also started a research program to study social ideology based business models followed by firms in India.

Ronglin Li - China

Professor Li is the deputy Director of the Center for WTO Studies and research fellow at the Institute of International Economics and Study Center for Transnationals at Nankai University and considered as a distinguished academic in China. Li’s research concentrates on Chinese national and transnational companies, especially their efforts of attracting foreign trade and direct investment, as well as oversea investment. Li has been working with China Ministry of Commerce on several key national studies. The Study Center for Transnationals, which Li works in, is the academic counterpart in China of UNCTAD World Investment Report.

Robert Osei - Ghana

Robert Osei is a Research Fellow in the Economics division of the Institute of Statistical, Social and Economic Research (ISSER), of the University of Ghana, Accra. Before joining ISSER, he lectured at the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA) also in Accra. Robert, in the past worked full time as a research associate with the Centre for Research in Economic Development and International Trade (CREDIT) of the school of economics in the University of Nottingham, UK. He has also lectured and tutored various courses in Economics at the University of Nottingham, the University of Warwick and the Cardiff Business School.

His research interest covers a range of economic policy concerns, mainly capital flows (both private and official), fiscal policy issues, poverty, trade and development, natural resource economics and social security in Ghana. Robert was part of the team that developed the MCA-Ghana program, as the lead economist. He is currently part of a team from ISSER developing a micro-simulation model for Ghana as part of an effort by the World Institute for Development Economics Research of the United Nations University (WIDER/UNU) to build capacity in the use of such models for policy analysis in Africa. His recent researches are in the areas of microfinance for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs). Robert did his first degree in Economics at the University of Ghana. He then went to Warwick University, UK, to do his MSC in Quantitative Development Economics. Robert’s PhD Thesis which is titled “Aid, Trade, and Growth in Ghana”, was obtained from the University of Nottingham, UK.

Melanie Richards - Trinidad & Tobago

Melanie Richards is the founder and principal consultant at Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Solutions Limited, a consultancy firm offering services in the area of business and society with a focus on sustainability. Prior to this she headed the research based consultancy sub-unit on CSR at Arthur Lok Jack Graduate School of Business (University of the West Indies). Melanie has been involved in a wide range of local and international projects in the area of business and society. She holds a B.Sc. in Management (Tourism Specialization) with honors and an MBA (Marketing Specialization) with distinction from the University of the West Indies.

Boleslaw Rok - Poland

Boleslaw Rok is associate professor at Business Ethics Centre of the Leon Kozminski Academy of Entrepreneurship and Management, Warsaw, Poland. He is co-founder and vice-chairman of the Responsible Business Forum, affiliated to CSR Europe. Boleslaw is also a member of the European Business Ethics Network, a member of the Responsible Entrepreneurship Expert Group of the European Commission Enterprise and Industry Directorate-General, and a member of the CSR Platform at the European Academy of Business in Society. He has worked with the Social Accountability International and Social Venture Network Europe (1997-1999: member of the Board), the UN Global Compact, the World Bank, and some other organizations. Boleslaw is working as an independent consultant and strategic adviser on Corporate Responsibility for companies.

Loretta Serrano Gonzalez - Mexico

Loretta Serrano joined the Growing Inclusive Market project as a Researcher of the Social Enterprise Knowledge Network (SEKN), an initiative launched by Harvard Business School in 2001. As part of SEKN -and based at EGADE, Tecnológico de Monterrey- she has developed a number of social responsibility-related case studies, team-teaching and consulting projects, as well as participated in the production of two books published by Harvard University Press: Social Partnering in Latin America and Effective Management of Social Enterprises. Loretta holds a MSc in Development Management from the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) and has been an international fellow of the Tokyo-based United Nations University (UNU). At present, she works as a public and social affairs global advisor for CEMEX, one of the world’s leading building materials companies.

Donghui Shi - China

Professor Shi is an expert in Industry Study in China. He is the author of several national core teaching books about Industry Study and Corporate Strategy used widely by Chinese universities. Prof. Shi is actively involved in several national key industrial research studies, together with experts in and out of China. He is also working with Chinese companies closely and made special contribution to the development of several big Chinese state-owned companies.

Courtenay Sprague - South Africa

Courtenay Sprague is a full-time faculty member at the University of the Witwatersrand’s Graduate School of Business Administration in South Africa. Her recent research has focused on access to medicines, health equity, and ethics. Previously, Courtenay was based in New York and responsible for managing Carnegie Corporation’s higher education initiative in South Africa. She was also a research associate at Harvard University and has conducted research for the International Labour Organization, the Treatment Action Campaign, and USAID. She has authored and co-developed over 40 published case studies, journal articles and book chapters. Courtenay holds a B.A. degree in Political Science from Michigan State University and a joint M.A. degree from Boston University in International Relations and in Resource and Environmental Management, and is a doctoral candidate in Development Studies at the University of the Witwatersrand.
